Low GFR & glucose on metabolic panel; cause for concern?

by jhorner on Thu Oct 09, 2014 2:13 pm

Hello,

I am a smoldering patient that just increased my follow-up visits from every 6 months to every 3 months due to IVIG therapy. My local oncologist canceled my first 3 month visit indicating that my blood work was fine and that he didn't need to see me until my next scheduled appointment in 3 months.

That is great news right? I was gleeful because surely this meant that my FLC going from 0.85 to 0.01 was not concerning, but then I scrutinized my metabolic panel results and they are as follows:

Creatinine 1.04 0.52 - 1.04 mg/dl Final
GFR, Calculated 59 (L) >60 ml/min/1.73m2 Final
BUN 17 10 - 26 mg/dl Final
Calcium 10.0 8.5 - 10.5 mg/dl Final
Calculated Calcium 9.9 8.5 - 10.5 mg/dl Final
Glucose, Serum 59 (L) 70 - 100 mg/dl Final
Fasting? No

I had already asked the forum about the higher calcium in a previous topic ("Can serum calcium have an impact without hypercalcemia?"), and I'm not too concerned about this even though it jumped from 9.0 to 10.0.

But I was wondering if the low GFR and glucose are cause for concern? Should I wait 3 months for follow-up metabolic testing?

Your opinions are appreciated.
