Low dose cyclophosphamide used in maintenance phase?

by Tracy J on Wed Dec 09, 2015 10:24 am

Dr. Laubach just suggested considering keeping once monthly cyclophosphamide (total monthly dose would be 550 mg) in my long-term maintenance regimen, for whenever I get to that point.

Right now I'm on pomalidomide, cyclophosphamide and dex. So my maintenance treatment would then be all three medications, but with the dex and the cyclophosphamide at lower doses. It doesn't sound like a huge change to me.

Have any of you seen low dose cyclophosphamide (Cytoxan) used in this way before? If so, what were the discussions about long term side effects of Cytoxan at that dose?

Dr. Laubach was also going to check with his local colleague who is the cyclophosphamide expert among them. I'll let you know what he ends up saying.

My primary concern would be 1) risk of bladder cancer later, and 2) risk of leukemia or MDS later.
