Low cortisol level in people with multiple myeloma

by Thelimeusa on Mon Feb 15, 2016 10:03 pm

Surprised I couldn't find more here on cortisol levels, as so many people with multiple myeloma are on dexamethasone treatments. Noticed wife was really sleeping a lot on days she wasn't on dex (40 mg over 3 days a week).

Turns out she had 0.6 cortisol level at 8;30 am when tested in the clinic 5 days after her last dex intake. Normal cortisol level over 6.0. in the morning.

How common is this with multiple myeloma?

This is a very good point. Of course steroids are well known to suppress one's own cortisol production. With symptoms like that, I'm glad her cortisol level was tested. What is the plan moving forward?
