Low blood counts, dependence on walker, from treatment

Just last month my dad, who has had perfect health, was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. He had chronic back pain. Turns out he has multiple myeloma. We have completed 6 rounds of mild grade chemo with Velcade and dex every week via IV and Zobone (4 mg) (zoledronic acid) injection once every 4 weeks. So he has had 2 zoledronic injections so far.

He was completely mobile and active prior to the treatment. Now he is reliant on a walker. Does the chemo leave one dependent on a walker for the rest of their life?

Also how low can the WBC and platelet count be for one to continue the chemotherapy?

Every week his WBC and platelet counts have been going down, which I think is the side effect of the medicines. Our bigger concern is his dependence on the walker for the rest of his life, as he is extremely upset about the same.

Any suggestions are welcome.
