Love of my life, my husband Russell

by Cheryl Martin on Tue Nov 05, 2013 9:38 am

My beloved husband started his journey with this disease in November of 2009 after experiencing bad pain. We had never even heard of multiple myeloma when he was first diagnosed.

He underwent a auto SCT in May of 2010 and was in a good partial remission for almost 18 months. Unfortunately, the disease came back with a vengeance and he underwent a allo SCT in May of 2012 using donor cells. For 9 months he struggled with GVHD, low platelets, CMV to name a few.

He passed away after being placed on a ventilator hoping to give his lungs a rest from a current lung infection. We ultimately followed is living will and he passed away on March 4, 2013 at the age of 56. I will forever miss him, he was and always will be the love of my life <3
