Hi to All,
I had never had a fungal nail infection before, but this year I did get infections in some toenails. I think this is attributable to being in public pools and spas, or from getting pedicures. After trying a topical OTC medication, which did not work, my family doctor prescribed Taro-Ciclopirox nail lacquer, which is an 8% topical solution of (ciclopirox).
That seems to be working, but it takes at least 3 months for the nails to recover.
Hope that helps!

Re: Loss of fingernails or toenails during treatment?
Tea tree oil is good for toenail problems and shows results pretty fast. The multivitamin I use make my nails strong and grow fast, so there are some good products out there. I have to cut my nails every two weeks they get so long. The vitamins also make my hair grow fast. I didn't lose any nails with my tandem transplants but had ridges in my nails until they grew out.

I totally agree about tea tree oil for toenail problems. All it can take is a week or 10 days of soaking your foot / feet every day for 5-10 minutes in a water solution of tea tree oil. It's very effective. You can even skip a day here or there and the treatment will still work.
