Living in a nightmare - now have heart problems

by Sharona on Wed Feb 12, 2014 11:22 am

My poor husband Eric is having an awful time at the moment.

A couple of weeks ago we were so happy that they stopped his chemo after 3 and a bit treatments as he was in partial remission. He went in for his maintenance therapy and when he returned home he couldn't breath and had developed an awful cough and also had bad diarrhea.

I looked up the side effects of Velcade and Zometa and just assumed that it was that. He started getting worse so I phoned the hospital and they said to bring him back in asap. We drove him the 3 hour journey and he was in state of collapse when we arrived.

This was Monday and today the doctor has phoned to say that he has H1N1 Swine Flu and it has attacked his lungs and they also took him by ambulance to a heart hospital and he has thickening of the left ventrical. This is a new development as he is checked regular and it may be caused by the myeloma.

They will continue to treat the flu until he is better then transfer him to the heart hospital to get his heart sorted sorted out.

Has anyone else had problems with their heart that has been directly caused by the myeloma.

Please pray for him. xxx

I doubt that the multiple myeloma is causing the heart issue as multiple myeloma normaly does not manifest itself in that way. However, it could be related to the Swine Flu or a reaction to his multiple myeloma treatments/chemo.
