Hi all,
My dad had his auto stem cell transplant on 21st feb this year...Though he is recovering fine, today he met with a small accident...While he was sitting on the swing at our home's garden, someone came and joined him on the swing too and unfortunately, the swing broke and he fell on his head...Also, there were some rash on his elbow and blood came from his elbow...He says he is fine but I am afraid he is just saying that so we don't get tense...Actually, he has compressed spine and always have had issues with his spine and hips....I called our doctor and told him about the bleeding...he said it was fine...but I am worried...his head is also bald and weak right now with no hair...and he fell on his head...Can I do something?? Or What should be done??
Thanks

Re: Little accident after auto stem cell transplant
Has his platelet count remained lower than normal since transplant?
Has he ever been told that his blood does not clot properly, for whatever reason?
Does he take any anti-coagulants, such as coumadin, warfarin or xarelto?
Does he have a headache?
Is his behavior since the fall abnormal (confusion, staggering, etc)?
These are the things I would want to know. If he answered yes to any of these questions, I would think he needs to be seen this weekend.
When you talked to your doctor, did you talk about the fact that he fell on his head?

I would also considered X-Rays. If he struck his head, he also might have affected his spine. If I had this happen, I would immediately contact my GP and inform them of my concerns and schedule x-rays to be on the safe side.
Good luck.

It wouldn't hurt to take a trip to the ER. Tracy J has some good points to be evaluated.
