Does anyone know the diagnostic criteria for light chain deposition disease / light chain multiple myeloma?
Does the kappa/lambda free light chain ratio have to be abnormal or substantial increase in both sufficient?
I have clay-like stool, easy bruising, purpura; acute unexplained kidney injury.

Re: Light chain deposition disease / light chain myeloma
Hi Gtnix,
I am not sure about light chain deposition disease, but my specialist is following me for light chain multiple myeloma. My light chains are currently at 915 and my bone marrow does show myeloma cells. I do not have any organ involvement, thankfully, or any of the CRAB criteria. I will start treatment in August due to chronic sinus infections.
Are you seeing a myeloma specialist? If your light chains are high, they may want to check for amyloidosis too.
These are just my experiences; good luck to you.

Gtlnx,
You mention the clay-like stool. Are you constipated regularly?

Yes, constipated regularly and symptoms improve on prednisone.
24-hour urine was done. Lambda immunofixation and small spike in beta region. The problem is none of the hematologists in New Jersey that I went to know about LCDD or AL amyloidosis. One scheduled me for a bone marrow biopsy, but I am afraid they will miss the diagnosis as they have been giving the wrong tests for months (total light chains instead of diagnostic free light chain), and they will keep telling me about multiple myeloma that I don't have.

Gtlnx,
Have you ever had an MRI done of your spinal cord?

Nope, she has good insurance, but doctors seem to hesitant about ordering any imaging tests, including cardiac and spinal MRI. Went to multiple hematologists and cardiologists with same problem.
The myeloma specialist wants to do bone marrow biopsy first but I am not sure light chain myeloma can be detected, as urine lambda immunofixation persists but serum ratios are normal.
