LEMS and MGUS - any correlation?

by Rosie+George on Fri Mar 24, 2017 12:36 pm

I've had MGUS and abnormal light chains (lambda) with Bence Jones proteins for a few years now. I also have pretty bad neuropathy as well.

My neuropathy has now been confirmed as small fiber neuropathy, and I also was just diagnosed with a rare disorder called LEMS (Lambert Eaton myathenic syndrome) that is normally associated with solid tumors, mostly small cell lung cancer, but sometimes other cancers as well.

Is there any known correlation between LEMS and MGUS or any other light chain abnormalities? Or is this just strictly a rare coincidence?

Thank you

PS (not a smoker!) (+dysautonomia)

Hello Rosie+George,

What type of MGUS do you have? Light chain MGUS? Or also heavy chains?

Best regards,
Ruben
