Swollen legs from dexamethasone

Due to side effects of dex, the doctors gave me a two week holiday from the drug. My legs and feet are swollen to twice the normal size.

Has anyone else faced similar side effects from the dex?

My ankles swelled for about 2-3 weeks when I was on Dex but I was having kidney issues at the time and stupidly ate a meal with way too much salt. I watched my salt intake very carefully after that.

I've had some swelling in my feet and ankles ever since starting treatment in 2009. It is a possible side effect of Revlimid, dex and the high blood pressure medication that I take. I wear compression knee high stockings, 12-20 mg/Hg, on days when they are swollen more than usual.

In the last few weeks, I have developed swelling throughout my body. I was concerned that it might be my kidneys or my heart. I saw my oncologist on Wednesday, and he said that all of the numbers related to heart, kidney and liver issues in my blood were normal. So, he has reduced my dex dose and upped my Revlimid dose until my next appointment, 6 weeks, to see if the reduced dex dose helps the overall swelling. I can report today so far that things are good. I took my lower dose of dex last night. Time will tell.

I got diagnosed on February 16, 2015 and am on my seventh cycle of Revlimid 25, dex 20 once a week, and Zometa 3 mg once in three month. My first dose of dexamethasone was 40 mg and side effect was so severe – swelling of leg, slow response to things like traffic light, blurred vision, irritation on little things, and not able to sleep for forty eight hours after taking dex. This sixth and seventh cycle I am taking 4 mg per day and I have better tolerable side effect but every thing mentioned above persists.
