Lactoferrin and multiple myeloma?

Lactoferrin was recommended to help treat a bacterial overgrowth in my GI system. Oncologist and pharmacist did not find anything either positive or negative relative to multiple myeloma. I've read that lactoferrin fights solid tumor cancers, but some things that are good for multiple myeloma are not good for solid tumor cancers, and vice versa.

The main action of lactoferrin is that it sequesters free circulating iron and stores it for use when making new red blood cells. By taking iron out of circulation, it starves bacteria and maybe viruses (I'm not positive about the virus part). Wondering if this might improve red blood cell counts.
