My dad is almost 82 years old, relatively healthy and recently on his physical received test results which indicated high protein levels:
Protein, Total, Serum 8.6 g/dl (normal range 6.0-8.5)
Free Kappa Lt Chains 67.79 mg/L (normal range 3.3-19.4)
Free Lamdba Lt Chains 45.85 mg/L (normal range 5.71-26.3)
Needless to say, we are very concerned, particularly given his age. We have a meeting with a hematologist next week.
Any advice on what these lab results might indicate? The worry is myeloma but in reading and researching, it could be MGUS or something else. I am just wondering how best to prepare for the meeting without over-analyzing and over-worrying, yet also maintaining the overall gravity of the situation and risks involved. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Lab Tests with High Free Lambda and Free Kappa scores
These levels are not completely out of range. If this is multiple myeloma, it is treatable. Don't worry - just go through the treatment series if it is recommended.
