Hi,
I'm seeing a neurologist as I have had a lot of bone pain in my legs hands and back shoulders and headaches in my eyes. my blood work for the last 3 months showed High liver enzymes. GP tested for hep a b c all came back good did CT of liver and spleen all looked good as well. GP brought up multiple myeloma and MD.
Blood test from DEC 2013
AST 54 HIGh
ALT 93 High
T protein 8.5 high
GFR 85 low
Globulin 3.9 High
A/G ratio 1.2 normal
HGB 14.6 High
HCT 44.4 high
PLT 125 low
WBC 9.2 normal
RBC 4.8 normal
Neuro did blood test then he wants brain MRI and EMG test done next. Neuro said sounds a lot like MS I have shaky hands as well.
Blood test
AST 24 normal
ALT 38 normal
CRP 2.18 high
Globulin 3.8 high
A/G ratio 1.0 low
WBC 5.9 went down but normal
RBC 4.39 normal
HGB 13.8 normal
HCT 39.5 normal
PLT 161 normal
I'm worried about the CRP level and the glob,a/G ratio? Or is this more toward MS?

Re: Do these lab results indicate multiple myeloma?
Elevated total protein, CRP and globulin levels can be seen in myeloma, but are not specific for this disease, and can also be seen in a number of inflammatory, autoimmune, or chronic infectious diseases. I think it is worth getting blood checked for serum protein electrophoresis (SPEP), serum immunofixation, and serum free light chains. If any of these tests demonstrate a monoclonal protein, then a work-up for myeloma would be appropriate. If these are negative, then myeloma is extremely unlikely, and further work-up for other neurologic or autoimmune diseases makes sense, as your GP and neurologist are doing.

Thank you so much I'm currently waiting for insurance to approve MRI.
