My husband is ineligible for a stem cell transplant (SCT) due to his age. He has IgG lambda multiple myeloma. He is on cycle 8 of Kyprolis. Earlier stopped Decadron (dexamethasone). His numbers are pretty stable, not awful, not great, so it appears he has sort of plateaued on the Kyprolis and has been told he has had a partial response.
A combo of Kyprolis, Cytoxan (cyclophosphamide), and dex has been suggested for him.
Have any of you or anyone you know been on this combo? What were the effects/side effects?

Re: Kyprolis, Cytoxan, and dex - any experiences?
Hi rechevar
I am on this combo. I started with just Kyprolis and Decadron, and, after two cycles, Cytoxan was added.
I got a good partial response to just Kyprolis and Decadron, and the goal of adding Cytoxan is to deepen that and achieve a complete remission.
After my first Cytoxan infusion I developed diarrhea that lasted two days and has now disappeared. There have been no other side effects other than a slight decrease in my white cell counts (all of them), which my doctor had expected.
I don't know what the impact of the added Cytoxan on my kappa light chain myeloma is yet, since I am two weeks away from my next free light chain assay, but I am feeling good.
This combo showed excellent results in a Phase 2 trial with elderly patients.
I wish your husband the best of luck with it!

Re: Kyprolis, Cytoxan, and dex - any experiences?
My husband is on cycle 5 of Kyprolis and dex. At 81, a SCT is out. He is doing well on this combo. He is in treatment 4 years now. I very much appreciate your question.
Re: Kyprolis, Cytoxan, and dex - any experiences?
My wife is on cycle 5 of Kyprolis - Cytoxan - dex. Before this she was two years on Revlimid + dex as maintenance after ASCT. When Revlimid stopped working, she was switched to Kyprolis - Cytoxan - dex.
Side effects: diarrhea developed on last cycle, fatigue. This combination dropped her FLC from ~200 to ~20, but also drops her red and white blood counts; she receives blood transfusions from time to time.
