My Mom 81 has been recently diagnosed with multiple myeloma 8/13/12....
She has been saying for a month or so before the multiple myeloma diagnoses, to her doctors that even with lots of fluid in-take she is not able to relieve her bladder during the day.
But then at night, she needs to get up, and use the restroom?????
She was told to weigh herself before bed, and then again when she gets up to make sure she isn't retaining water ?????.....A three pound difference last night.....
Anyone else experience this or know what is happening???
She had her second round of Chemo yesterday 8-21-12...
And is scheduled for 6 rounds, one each week....

Re: Kidneys/Bladder don't allow my Mom to void during the da
yes I have a similar experience and I think it is because my kidneys are so damaged that they do not filter the blood efficiently - so I imagine that is what is happening with your mother.
I drink a lot in the day but do not pee very often - but at night I wake 4 or more times to go to the bathroom, and I wake up weighing several pound less than I weighed when I went to bed.
When the doctor had me cut back on the dexamethasone (steroid) from 40 mg 4 days in a row, and then off 4 days and repeated that over and over- to just taking dex twice a week, I dropped 7 pounds of water and was able to wear my rings again.
So, it could be medication or it could be her kidneys.
