My husbands Lambda and kappa levels are in the normal range but the ratio is slightly low. Is there any significance to this?
My husband has been through radiation then had a rib with a problematic lesion removed and last but not least 6 months of chemotherapy. Labs were normalizing. This time, the kappa dropped very slightly, and the lambda increased, but they are both still in the normal range. The ratio was normal but now is slightly low.
K/L Ratio 0.398 0.41 - 1.43 L
Kappa FLC 8.0 mg/L 0.0 - 22.2 N
Lambda FLC 20.1 mg/L 0.0 - 34.4 N

Re: Low kappa / lambda FLC ratio - any significance?
Ok, in continuing to look this up is that if this stays as is could be one of two things: MGUS (but he had lesion and bone marrow findings) with bone marrow suppression or could be non-secreting or could be non of the above.
I know the lambda is starting to trend up from last test but it is still normal so I guess I am going just have to try and not worry.

I also read that it could be stuborn low level myeloma cells with production of excessive light chains. One more thing to confuse and worry a person.

Re: Low kappa / lambda FLC ratio - any significance?
I always thought that the lower the ratio of kappa / lambda the better.
My Myeloma is IgG kappa, and the lower the ratio the better in my opinion. Even if the ratio is below the normal range. But again, I am IgG kappa, so this might be different for some one who is not IgG kappa?
