Jim, diagnosed November 2015, now on Darzalex & Pomalyst

by Rockman29697 on Wed Feb 01, 2017 1:04 am

Hi,

I am Jim Swain, I am a 64 year old male who has had multiple myeloma since November 2015. I have had numerous treatments and attempts to treat my multiple myeloma. I was stage three when I was told I had it in 2015. I am currently undergoing treatment with Darzalex along with Pomalyst 3 mg that I take at home. I have had 8 Darzalex treatments so far, and I am scheduled for 8 more treatments once every other week.

Darzalex infusion #8 tomorrow for me. I'm doing it as a single agent. My M-spike went down a small amount (1.33 to 1.27) after 4 infusions. I get a full workup next week. I was diagnosed August 2012.

Best wishes to you!

I hope you get good results. I am surprised by my results, and hopeful that things stay the same as I continue treatment. I am hoping that a stem cell transpant is in my future. I feel this will get me into some kind of permanet remission. All I can do is hope. Hopefully you can have some wonderful news to share after your 8 treatments. I will be praying for you.

Not so great news from trip to MD Anderson last week. Aberrant plasma cells in bone marrow are at 20%. Last year plasma cells were at 5%. After my small decrease in M-spike after 4 Darzalex infusions, the M-spike has increased (also increase in IgG and light chains). The doctor decided that Darzalex as a single agent is not working and will add 2 mg Pomalyst. Will also probably change the steroid from Medrol to dexamethasone. I see home oncologist on Tuesday, and she will implement the changes / additions.
