Does anyone know if IVIG has any effect on IgG levels?
I've had 2 monthly infusions after a long bout of pneumonia. My IgG level went from 520 to 900, then most recently to 1000.
I'm 9 months post stem cell transplant. My levels were high at diagnosis, then dropped dramatically with induction and transplant. I'm concerned and am waiting for my other myeloma labs to come back soon.
Just feeling a little worried but waiting to see the rest of labs. Any thoughts welcome.

Re: Does IVIG affect your IgG level?
Hello Loveparis,
Yes, IVIG does effect your IgG level. I usually have my myeloma panel on the day of IVIG and they draw the blood prior to the infusion to get a better read on my numbers. The half life of IVIG is 20 days so even still my tests are not 100% accurate as they would be if I had not been on IVIG therapy.
I had blood work done after infusion once because the original draw was hemolyzed, and my IgG was almost 3,000.
I hope this helps.

Re: Does IVIG affect your IgG level?
Loveparis,
The whole idea behind IVIG treatment is to raise one's IgG level
IVIG is in fact predominantly IgG that has been collected from blood donors.
At an IgG level of 590 mg/dL, your IgG was below normal. So based on your low IgG level and having pneumonia, they started you on IVIG treatment to boost your IgG level so as to fight off the pneumonia.
