Hi,
I'm new here and have a few questions.
First, I was diagnosed with MGUS last July and at that time I had 1 M spike of 0.9. However now the lab sheets read 2 M spikes. One is 0.5 and the other is 0.3. There is a third but lab doesn't mention any thing about the 0.1 other than saying abnormal.
Other results: Lambda increased from 34 to 36 and ratio is 0.14. Also the immunoglobin has gone from 1474 to 1610. Plus a few faint bands in the urine. However calcium and albumin are fine ( calcium is 10.1).
Questions:
Does having more than 1 M spike mean it's poly and has a better outlook ?
Or, does this look like it's progressing ?
Also have short lived pain in lower back and extremely weak feet at times. Foot problem lasts less than a minute!
Any help will be appreciated!

Re: Is my MGUS progressing?
Well, my doctor told me last year that "legally " he had to tell me that I should have a biopsy done, but I asked him, given my labs results then, would he treat me, and he said " no". Therefore I declined, but he said when I'm ready it should be done.
I'm thinking I might do it on next visit due to changes in labs. What are your thoughts? Labs not looking good .?

Re: Is my MGUS progressing?
Hi Ginny, IMHO, I would listen to your doctor and have the bone marrow biopsy. I have had five, and they are tolerable. It would also be advisable to have imaging of your bones based on your pain.
I am glad I listened to my doctor and had the bone marrow biopsy because I have a form of myeloma wherein my SPEP's are normal. Without the BMB having been done, I would have never known what I was harboring.
I think you know your doctor is correct and you should probably act accordingly. Knowledge is power. Good luck.
