Is it light chain MGUS?

by tantoniadis on Fri Jun 15, 2018 6:39 pm

Hi,

Seems like my mom has recently been diagnosed with MGUS.

All her blood results are normal:

CBC normal
Calcium magnesium normal
IgG, IgA and IgM are normal
B2 microglobuline is 3.08mg/L Ref 0.00-3.21
LDH 153 iu/L Ref 44-123

However, immunofixation electrophoresis shows: "Presence of monoclonal gammopathy of IgG kappa type."

Kappa FLC (Serum) 71.8 H 3.3-19.4 mg/L
Lambda FLC (Serum) 17.5 5.7-26.3 mg/L
Kappa/Lambda Ratio 4.10 H 0.26-1.65

From my understanding, this is light chain MGUS. Am I right?

Thanks for your help,
Tania

Hi Tania,

Is there any "M-spike" (abnormal protein, monoclonal protein, or paraprotein) reported on your mother's serum protein electrophoresis (SPEP) report. This is the report that lists total protein level, alpha, beta, and gamma globulin levels, and albumin levels, and should have a line, usually at the bottom, saying if a monoclonal protein level was measured and, if so, what it was.
