From Iraq, aunt has multiple myeloma & lymphoma

by zaidbazooka on Sat Aug 23, 2014 4:47 pm

Hi everyone, greetings from Iraq.

My aunt is 71 years old. She got myeloma. It is discovered before more than 4 months, but before that (2 years ago ) she was feeling tired, bone pain, going to the bathroom too much, and nose bleeding. Doctors did not diagnosis that before 2 years, but before 4 months they diagnosis that she has myeloma.

So we thought she has got myeloma only, but then doctors diagnosis that she has another cancer which called non-Hodgkin lymphoma, plus myeloma :/

We are confused so she has went to Lebanon to check more about that.

I can send you her papers if you want :) and what medicine she takes .

I am looking forward for your answers :) Thanks

Welcome to the forum, Zaid.

We are sorry to hear about your aunt's situation.

If you can give us more information about what treatment she has received so far for her myeloma and/or lymphoma, how she has responded to treatment, and the specific questions that you have, we and other forum participants will do the best we can to be of help.

Hi,

Thanks for your answer .

At first time, she has responded very well. Doctor gave her these medications: dexamethasone 40 mg, Velcade, chemotherapy, melphalan and prednisone, calcium tablets, Capoten [captopril], Glucophage [metformin].

She felt better after taking these but suddenly lymph nodes appeared on her body after 3 months of curing. Her doctor was shocked about that. He told us that is the first time that he faced this situation.

BTW, I have searched online about new hope for myeloma and I found Pomalyst and Kyprolis can fight myeloma. Is that real? But these medications are unavailable in Baghdad.
