At diagnosis my mom's calcium level was very high. With treatment, it went to a consistent low level. Every week her calcium level has been low around 8.7 at the local oncologist.
However, she went for testing this week before she meets with the specialist next week, and her calcium level was 10.4, just barely in the normal range. However, both of her ionized calcium levels were slightly high:
Ionized 1.37
Normalized 1.34
Normal levels were from (1.08-1.30)
Her results in July were 0.98 and 0.92.
Since her calcium levels have been consistently low at the local oncologist every week, is this something to worry about, or could it just be a fluke?
Thanks.

Re: Elevated ionized calcium level - cause for worry?
Presuming she has responded well from a myeloma perspective, it would be very unlikely for the calcium to then rise. The levels you provide are very close to normal, and not concerning in my opinion. It goes without saying (though I am saying it) that a determination like this can only be made conclusively by someone reviewing everything, which your physician will no doubt do. Hope this alleviates the concern though.
