In between writing some additional International Myeloma Workshop summaries and helping with the writing of our daily Workshop summaries, I thought I'd take a break and put up some photos from the Workshop.
I'm going to start with some photos from the main auditorium in which almost all the sessions were held where speaks gave presentations. I hope these photos give everyone a feel for just how big the auditorium was and, of course, what that means for just how huge attendance was at the Workshop. I've been told that as many as 1500 people registered for the event. I would say there were consistently more than 1000 people attending most of the presentations.
One thing that also is worth mentioning about the main auditorium is the audio-visual system that was in place. The sound system was excellent, and the speaker and the speaker's slides were projected on to numerous screens throughout the auditorium, including a very large screen behind the speaker and panel members, so it was easy to follow the presentation regardless where one was in the auditorium.

Immediately outside the auditorium -- off to the right as you looked toward the front of the auditorium like in the photos above -- there was an assembly area where most Workshop attendees would gather to talk before, between, and after the presentation sessions.
Refreshments typically were served in this area, and there also were 8-10 public access computers with Internet access. All of them were almost always in use.
The assembly area was also the first area one entered when arriving at the conference and going through the registration area. The registration area, which is off to the right as you look at the assembly area in the photos below, was immediately off of the area at the Louvre where the famous inverted glass pyramid is located.
The assembly area also was between the auditorium and the exhibitor area.
(You'll also noticed that there is a floor above the assembly area where it's possible to look down into the assembly area. That floor was the one where the posters presented at the Workshop were located.)

The exhibitor area is where the sponsors of the conference could put up information and make people available to answer any questions Workshop attendees might have. Most of the sponsors were companies that market myeloma-related drugs (for example, Celgene, Johnson & Johnson, Novartis, and Takeda/Millennium) or are in the process of developing new myeloma drugs (for example, Bristol-Myers Squibb and Onyx).
There also were some exhibits from the International Myeloma Foundation, the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, and the French myeloma patients' federation.
The photos below were taken directly at the entrance to the exhibitor area, which is on the other side of the assembly area from the entrance to the main auditorium.
