I have been monitored for MGUS with a free light chain ratio of 13-16 and a total protein of 5-6 for 5 years. My only bone marrow several years ago showed 5-7 % involvement.
My most recent check up showed a free light chain ratio of 97 and total protein of 10. I am scheduled for another check up and bone marrow biopsy next month.
I have been researching and reading about treatment options if the next round of labs show what I am afraid they will show. I am a senior citizen on Medicare Advantage which is the only option I have in our state as a retired state employee, and I am wondering how to afford the expensive treatments I have been reading about if they are needed.
None of the oral drugs I have read about seem to be covered on my Part D drug coverage. Does anyone have any experience with Medicare and payment for these drugs if I need them? Would Medicare pay for them once I met the out of pocket amount for the year and reached catastrophic level?
Thank you for this site and the information that you provide for someone beginning this journey. Any advice anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated.
God Bless.
