Insurance denial for auto & mini allo at relapse

by MarcellaE on Sat Nov 14, 2015 8:23 pm

Hi,

I am new to this forum but am desperately looking for information.

I am the caregiver for a relapsed multiple myeloma patient. In 2013, she had an auto stem cell transplant and now they are suggesting an auto transplant followed by a mini allo transplant. However, the insurance company is denying the claim, stating that the tandem is only approved for newly diagnosed patients.

If anyone has had a similar situation and/or has done a tandem without the insurance company denying it, please let me know.

Thank you!
