Hello All,
I'm writing on behalf of my grandmother, who recently got diagnosed with this fun fun fun multiple myeloma. Now I'm a total loss of what to do insurance wise.
Can anyone please point me in the right direction for the most cost efficient, yet effective, treatment for her?
She is 70 years old. I'm 23 and I will be paying for this myself ... so any advice is appreciated.

Re: Insurance & cost-effective treatment options?
Haya,
Are you in the USA and can I assume your grandma is on Medicare?
It's really impossible to answer your question, especially without knowing your grandma's situation and what the doctor is thinking of treatment-wise. You also really don't want to choose the most "cost-effective" drug treatment, but rather the best one for your grandma's particular situation.
At the same time, keep in mind that there are a lot of drug payment assistance programs in the USA to help folks pay for their drug treatments when they otherwise could not afford them. Folks on this forum can point you to those programs. There are also many multiple myeloma clinical trials that can provide multiple myeloma treatments at no cost.
The most important thing is that your grandma first gets hooked up with a multiple myeloma specialist. If you let us know what city she lives in, folks on this forum can make some recommendations on places or specific doctors to seek out.

If you live in the United States, your grandmother should be on Medicare. Medicare payed for all the treatments and hospitalizations my mother needed.
