Hi Allison,
Oh no! I am so sorry to hear about your mother. I remember your posts about her stem cell transplant. She went through a lot back then. And you were a great resource to this community in documenting her ups and downs.
I felt like I almost got to know your mother through your posts. She seemed like a wonderful person! I think it is really cool that she had her bag almost packed for another trip at the end.
Please accept my condolences for your loss.
Mike
P.S. - Thanks for sharing this news with us, even if it is sad news. I've thought about your mom and you and wondered how you all were doing.

Re: My Mom's Inpatient Stem Cell Transplant at Roswell Park
I was so sad to hear of your mom's death. I read all of your posts before I had my stem cell transplant in April 2016. They helped me so much. Especially deciding what to bring to the hospital. I am so glad she got to do things that she enjoyed doing after her transplant.

Re: My Mom's Inpatient Stem Cell Transplant at Roswell Park
Hello Allison,
I too felt greatly saddened by your mother's passing. I was not on this forum when you originally posted, but found it some time later and read it from beginning to end.
From over here in Australia, I felt a great affinity with your mother. We were both diagnosed with IgA myeloma at 70, went down the transplant road (I had mine in November 2013 at 72), had some difficulties (I left hospital at Day +30), and came out the other end to get on with life. Over three years post transplant, I am able to live a pretty normal life.
I send loving thoughts, and wish you happy memories that will always be with you.

Allison, I'm so sorry to read about your mom. My husband was both diagnosed and underwent his stem cell transplant around when your mom did and I followed along with her journey. I'm glad she was able to live her life and am very sorry to learn of her passing.

Re: My Mom's Inpatient Stem Cell Transplant at Roswell Park
Hello Allison,
I was so very saddened to see your posting when it went up here in the forum last week. Please accept my condolences on your mother's passing. I hope that you and your family have adjusted to her absence in a way that allows you to hold on to all the special memories of your mother, without too much of the pain that comes from her not being with you any longer.
I am grateful to your mother and (especially) to you for sharing with us her transplant experience. Both of you were so generous, and you were so very diligent. I still marvel at all the information you shared with us in your postings.
I hope that 2017 brings you and the rest of your family much joy and good health. Best wishes,
Terry

Gala - I appreciate your kind words.
MikeB - I have thought you often. I remember you well. The "wise one". I remember well your wise words and comments during the time of my mom's transplant. I hope you are well.
JBritt - Just what you said would have made my mother very happy. The reason I wrote as I did, was because we struggled to find the kind of information that wasn't clinical or medical.
RhondaV - I am so pleased to hear that you are doing well. It does sound like you had a somewhat similar transplant experience - I'm not sure that there are so many "young 70-year olds" having them. Best wishes.
EF11 - I hope that your husband and you are doing well. and thank you.
Terry - That was the kind of information that I so craved when we were preparing. Thank you for your kind words. Her presence is still very strong. Perhaps her story will continue to help and support those of others.
Thanks everyone. I hope the best for all of you. Just two days ago, I moved in with my father. We are looking after one another ... and I have been learning to cook!
