Increasing protein in the urine - does it mean anything?

by Jacqueline on Wed May 11, 2016 2:59 pm

Hello,

A small issue that makes me a little scared:

I got my test results, and the gammopathy (stage 1) seems steady (same numbers than 4 months ago), I have no anemia (hemoglobin 12,1 g), etc.

In September 2015 I had no protein in the urine, but I had 0.43 g / L in January, and 0.87 g / L now.

Normal creatinine: 7.8 mg / L (N: 5.5-10.2) or 69.0 mmol / L (N: 48.6-90.2)

I'm worried. Have protein which increase in urine, it means that the kidneys suffer may be ?

Thank you,

Jacqueline

Hello Jacqueline,

When do you see your haematologist next?

Hello,

I see my hematologist in September.

But I sent him those results (by post and by email to be sure), a week ago. I have no news from his service.

I bought some urine test strips. They are not precise, but they still mark there is albumin.
For cons, I see no increase (fortunately, because almost 1 gram is already too much).

And in two controls (I do a lot), there was almost no protein.

Thanks (and sorry for my bad English),
Jacqueline

Hi Jaqueline,

I would phone and make an appointment to see your haemotologist before September just to be on the safe side – maybe something in June or July (France is closed for vacation in August )

Your English is fine.

Thank you very much for the advice.

I am going to consult my GP first, because he can phone the hospital and make an appointment for me faster. Or he can give me more analysis, before seeing the hematologist.

It's not easy to make an appointment in the hospital.

Thanks again,
Jacqueline
