IgG increase after post-transplant vaccinations

by maineviews on Sun Mar 02, 2014 8:42 am

I have IgG Kappa myeloma. Had a SCT [stem cell transplant] in May 2013. I'm currently on maintenance therapy of 10 mg Revlimid.

Since my SCT my IgG levels have been low, hovering around 500. In February I received my first round of vaccinations. My CBC revealed a rise in my IgG.

My question is could these vaccines have contributed to the increase in my IgG? It's still on the low side @ 650? Did anyone else experience a 'slow' to rebound IgG?

Thanks

Like you I'm a kappa guy. Vaccines had no impact on my IgG but over the last year on maintenance my IgG has been creeping up but my light chains have remained steady. I'm on 15 mg of Revlimid with my IgG running around 900 with the kappas at 12 mdl.

Some of the increase can be from immune reconstitution after transplant (healthy plasma cells regrowing). Sometimes difficult to know if this is relapse in disease or not, but the M-protein quantification helps with this.

Thanks for the responses. I too have normal free light chain results/ratio. If I was in relapse wouldn't one expect the kappa and ratios to rise? I was under the impression that the free light chain test is the most sensitive & the best detector of increase in m spike?
