IgA MGUS with two monoclonal peaks

by Johannes56 on Wed Dec 21, 2016 1:21 am

Hello, everybody,

May I introduce myself: My name is Johannes, I am from Vienna, Austria. 60 years old. Sorry for my English, that is not the best.

In 2014 I was diagnosed with neuroborreliosis and had atonic bladder (urinary retention). After 6 weeks of IV antibiotics, I felt better and could go to work again after 4 month of hospitals, diagnostics and therapy.

At this moment my serum immunoglobulins have been normal, CSF elevated proteins as sign of Lyme disease.

Now, more than 2 years later, I developed IgA MGUS with two monoclonal peaks. My doctors say that is untypical and they think that is a reaction of my immune system on chronic borreliosis.

I will have a date with a hematologist in a few weeks to evaluate the risk for multiple myeloma.

We did immunoglobulins in serum because of chronic fatigue and frequent infections. So, in serum, due to elevated IgA, my IgM is below detection limit of nephelometry (without latex enhancement) and IgG is very low.

I want to share experiences with MGUS and the possible connection between MGUS and Lyme disease.

Have nice holidays, good luck,

Johannes

Hi Johannes,

Willkommen zu unserer Liste. As you probably know by now, even if you would have MGUS, it is usually not treated. There is a part of the forum here especially for MGUS patients. If you are interested, just go to the main forum page and scroll down a bit further and you will see it.

Greetings,
Kate

Hi, Kate!

Thank you for your welcome in German language! I already have been reading the part of MGUS discussions and today I have an appointment with a hematologist at AKH Vienna to discuss all my findings.

Greetings,

Johannes
