Well today my husbands neutrophils count hit 0.... yesterday it was 0.1/ his white cell count is 0.9 (yesterday it was 0.5). He has been on neupogen injections for 5 days now... 4 of those days with a double dose!
None of the doctors know if this is normal or not before stem cell harvest to go right down to nothing... making me a bit nervous.
My husbands case is not what they have seen as he had a ruptured colon 2 days after the cytoxan and emergency surgery. I get the feeling the surgeons are still very concerned.
All I can find is that anything under 0.5 is severe neutropenia.... well we know he's in that range....
Hoping the numbers go up tomorrow!

Re: How low can neutrophils counts go?
today we have so far got WBC... and that has gone from 0.9 up to 5.1 - still waiting on the neutrophil count but I suspect that would have gone up by now. I am feeling much more positive about it all today and husband is feeling much less tired and looks better!

Thanks, Ulrika, for updating us on your husband's situation. It's helpful to learn about these sorts of experiences -- you never know when the information could be useful.
I hope your husband continues to improve. Please keep us posted, not only on his progress, but also about what his doctors are doing to help him.

Re: How low can neutrophils counts go?
I will try get all of the official counts to record here but I can recall that today his White Blood Cell count was 25.1 and his neutrophils were 19 I think. extremely good. He is out of isolation and he had his stem cell harvest which went well - we find out in the morning if they got enough in the one day! Fingers crossed.
So after a few days of WCC and neutrophils going down to 0.... they shot up over night! He did have lots of bone pain that night which they said is a good sign, means the stem cells have increased to the point of going out of the marrow into the blood stream.
