When done via IV it took 2-3 hours.. But when I was switched over to receiving it subqueue (a shot directly into the abdomen) then it was simply the time to administer the shot. At first the side effects seemed stronger than before but after a couple weeks they were much more reduced than they were via IV.

I've learned the "squeaky wheel gets the oil". When I first started chemo, I waited 20 min in the reception area before I was taken into the chemo room to wait some more. . I made a big fuss over the wait.. Now I get taken in IMMEDIATELY upon my arrival which is always at the exact time of my appointment. They do vitals, draw blood , wait for results, give me a DEX IV and a Velcade shot and I am never there for more than 1 1/2 hrs. I made it clear that if they are running behind ton call me to reschedule or give me the first appointment. of the day so they wont be running late. They give me an appointment. time at 1:45 and always run on time. Sometimes there is a slight delay if the "mixer " is backed up but never to make a fuss over. Working in the medical field for 44 years learned the nice non complaining patient gets the lowest priority so complain to the appropriate person and they will get the message. The chemo nurses and I are now on the same page and we have an excellent working relationship despite starting the rocky start.
