High risk myeloma (involvement of chromosomes 13 & 17)

by Carol T. on Wed Apr 14, 2010 3:30 pm

I'm trying to find any information on the effect of having the Chromosomes 13 and 17 involved which put me in the “High Risk” category. I would appreciate any information any one can give me in regard to this and if any ongoing new trials are for the chromosome high risk patients. I was diaganosed in Sept. 09 and have been undergoing treatment ever since. My treatment is Revlimid, Velcade and Dexamethasone. Also Zometa. I actually am doing quite well on this regimen bringing my mSpike down from 6.3 to 2 which is a 2/3 drop.
Thanks for any information I may receive.

Dr. William Bensinger from the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center said:

"There are multiple articles published on the impact of cytogenetic abnormalities on prognosis in multiple myeloma. I have attached a couple for your reading."
