My dad has gone through having two different cancers now, and he is reluctant to fully let me in on what is going on until he has absolutely no way to make medical decisions on his own. I understand his wanting to be independent, but now i'm worried.
My dad had his gamma protein tested in December. He told me that test was supposed to range between 0-19. It tested at 65, another test in January came back at 95, and two weeks ago came back at 135.
He had an MRI done the first week in this month, and it didn't show anything anywhere. He was complaining for lower back pain, but that came back normal with no lesions.
On the 13th he had a bone marrow biopsy, and the results he received yesterday came back normal.
His oncologist told him she didn't know why his protein levels were so high, she would just continue to monitor him, and set up another appointment for April.
I'm having a really hard time figuring out what combination of information to put together, to try and figure out what could be causing this spike if he does not have myeloma.
Any help anyone could offer me would be greatly appreciated! I'm really worried, and I know he is too, but he is stubborn and thinks the world of his oncologist, so when I try to approach him about this he tells me she knows all about what is going on with him, and she still didn't know, so what else could he do.
