I am a 47 year old male who recently had several blood/urine tests come back that confuse/worry me. I emailed neurologist who ordered tests to ask if I should worry. Her response was short, 'not to worry, but we will have you repeat blood/urine tests"
I do have a follow up appointment with her this week but find myself going crazy with worry wondering what results could mean, I know I should stay off the Internet! I came across this website and wondered if anyone could offer advice as to what these numbers mean:
Protein, Electrophoresis, Urine showed "Pattern consistent with mixed Glomerular and Tubular Proteinuria"
Immunofix Elec, Quant showed "A faint band in IGG Lambda cannot be ruled out from the serum immunofixation elctrophoresis pattern".
IgG, Serum - 966 (reference range 694-1618)
IgA - 306 (reference range 81-463)
IgM - 83 (reference range 48-271)
Free Kappa Lambda w/Kl Ratio urine showed:
Free Kappa Random Urine 6.95 (reference range 1.35 to 24.19 unit: mg/L)
Free Lambda Random Urine 0.93 (reference range 0.24-6.66)
Free Kappa Lambda Ration Urine 7.47 (reference range 2.04-10.37)
Serum Protein Elec with Graph showed:
Toital Protein (SPE) 6.8
Albumin 4.1
Alpha 1 - 0.1
Apha 2 - 0.5
Beta Globin 1.0
Gamma
Globin 1.0
Protein, Electrophoresis, Urine showed:
Unit Protein mg/dl 6
Albumin % urine 44.20
Urine Alpha-1 protein 4.97
Urine Alpha 2 protein 15.74
Beta % Urine Protein 24.52
Gamma % Urine Protein 10.57
Not sure what to read from all of this - kidney failure? multiple myeloma? amyloidosis?

Re: Help understanding test results
First off, I'm not a doc. But nothing on these reports indicates to me that you have something like multiple myeloma or amyloidosis. Your urine albumin (albumins are proteins) is a bit high, but lots of very benign things can cause proteinuria.
It also sounds like your hematologist is on top of this by ordering some additional tests.
I know it's tough to wait, but I would try not to worry too much and would instead wait for your follow up tests. You just have too little to go on to try and second guess all this. Your hematologist is doing the right thing.
