Hi All,
I have a question. My mom went on this drastic HCG diet two years prior to her diagnosis. She lost over 100 lbs. Her cholesterol decreased, her BMI went down drastically, and it seemed to leave her in an overall healthy state, other than the fact that she had some kidney issues because she hates drinking water.
I'm just wondering, could the HCG drops from the diet have caused her myeloma?
My mom is 65 and African American, so I do know that these are some of the factors in having myeloma.
Has anyone been on the HCG diet or taken it for fertility purposes?
It seemed my mom was fine until after this diet. Although in her life she's had pneumonia 18 times and some other issues. Cancer does run in her dad's family.
Just wondering what could of caused this?
Thanks in advance for any responses.

Re: HCG diet - any link to multiple myeloma?
Hi!
I have a sister (48), who too lost a bunch of weight (40 lbs / 18 kg) on the HCG diet. She is / was healthy and went in for an annual physical and the doc noticed she was anemic and put her on Iron supplements. When she returned to have the anemia checked, it was worse. Went to a specialist and after several tests was diagnosed with multiple myeloma.
I am very suspicious that there might be a connection with the HCG drops and multiple myeloma. Maybe not for all people, but for some. I've been told that I'm wrong by doctors, but smart enough to know that docs don't know everything about this disease, so ... I'm hoping you get more responses to see how many others there might be.

Re: HCG diet - any link to multiple myeloma?
I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma last year at the age of 39.
I had gone on the HCG diet 2 years prior. I broke my back 6 months after completing the HCG diet. I know I had myeloma then. I just did not fit the profile. It took a long time to figure everything out.
I was finally diagnosed at stage 3a. I would like to find out if there is any relation to HCG also.
