Having Issures With Pain - Blood Test Possible Myeloma?

by must love cats on Sun Aug 25, 2013 8:06 pm

Hi, I really need some answers and have not been able to get clear ones for over seven months.
I have recently been referred to a Rhematologist because my blood tested positive for RA twice.
Since seeing the Rheumy he said I did not show any signs of RA, but he had a series of Xrays
done and also ordered his own blood tests. I started with pain in my ribs in January which was also the month my husband passed away. I ended up changing primary care doctor after he
shrugged off the constant pain I was having in my ribcage. When I went to another doctor he
ordered all kinds of tests. I also asked him to do the 24 hour Bence Jones test which came back negative for protein in urine. I do have low kidney function but I have had that now and doctor suspected it came from high blood pressure problem which is under control with medication. I have never tested anemic or with protein in blood. Just recently I also started having hip pain in both hips and the rib pain subsided for about three weeks in which time I had a faulty gall bladder removed, but the pain came back with a vengance. I know that testing positive for RA could also indicate Multiple Myeloma and also rib and hip pain could indicate it. I do not go back to the Rhemy until September 18th. I live in a rural area and he travels to this area twice a week to treat his patients. I am getting very frustrated at not getting any positive answers to my problem. While I was in his office I got a Dexa scan for osteoporosis but have not gotten the results of that yet. Has anyone on the forum ever had rib pain everyday for seven months?
All I get is Hydracodone 500 pills and I don't like to take them very often. By the way I am 66 years old and female. Getting very scared at this poiint, just want some answers. If I have Multiple Myeloma I need to start getting treatment as soon as possible. Why am I being jerked around? If I have cancer I will have to deal with it just like thousands of other brave souls out there that are fighting it daily.
