Holiday gift ideas for great doctors?
Any ideas of what to give a great oncologist for Christmas? My doctor has gotten me through a lot. I'd like to give him some sort of appreciation.

We were struggling to come up with ideas too! We ended up giving our doctor a special bottle of Greek olive oil from a local farmers market vendor. We had tried the olive oil ourselves in the past - it's imported from Greece and the flavor is superb.
He seemed very happy with it and I heard one of his nurses say "Oh, something besides booze!" We also wrote him a nice thank you note expressing our gratitude.
Other patients brought in sweets (cinnamon rolls, cookies, petit fours, candy), someone brought a fruit bowl, and one other person made him a beautiful wooden walking stick.

I give my doctor several gift certificates for coffee shops so that he can share them with his wonderful nurses too. And of course a card every year too!

I brought the office a batch of donuts. Docs love donuts even though they can cause cancer!

Re: Holiday gift ideas for great doctors?
We bring in two trays of whatever candy and cookies every Thursday, chemo day, starting around Thanksgiving to Christmas time.
One tray goes into the chemo lab, the other goes upstairs to the nurses, the doctor, and his physician assistant.
The chemo nurses cannot eat in the chemo room, so it is such a treat for them to slip into the office and have a sweet on the run.
However, I think the olive oil is a great idea. Also, when we travel, we bring back special religious items, for our other oncologist, who is the same religion as we are. He loves these special gifts, even when they are small!
A THANK YOU to all these amazing people. Your smile is always welcome.

My 3 kids & I gave my Oncologist a tie each--4 snazzy ties--as he insists on wearing bright, colorful shirts and snazzy ties with his white coat. He is "Old School" with wearing the ties and shirts/ white Lab Coat..
He was touched. I told him 2 for the car...and 2 for his office...so he will not be without a tie for any occasion. He has 3 different facilities that he attends to patients. He immediately put on one and "modeled" the rest.
He said he was glad I didn't do food as he has gained 15 lbs this year--and was pining to get in the pool and get his laps in. He said he got lots of food and shared with patients, Nurses, Lab folks, etc.
Good luck with your Oncologist gift purchase.
PS--I went to CR on the latest Labs. ie. ZERO (formerly 0.1 IgG Kappa light) ( but now reporting a faint IgM Lambda band...and taking it as a good sign from the Revlimid ).

If your oncologist does transplants maybe this would work, or maybe it is too cheesy?

Or if not doing a transplant.

I am not sure I would want to see my Oncologist wearing this one. But if you are a survivor of a of this infection, it would be a conversation starter.

Those gift ideas are a riot!!! I dare anyone to actually give those. Interesting that they are for men. My stem cell doc is a woman.
Re: Holiday gift ideas for great doctors?
I'm going to have to start wearing ties again, even though I'm retired, just so I can wear that stem cell tie. That's awesome!
