The Myeloma Beacon forums give myeloma patients and caregivers the opportunity to connect with one another, learn from each other’s experiences, and ask relevant questions of one another.
In recognition that forum readers may appreciate a variety of perspectives, including those from newly diagnosed patients, long-term survivors, caregivers, and myeloma specialists, the Myeloma Beacon has arranged for myeloma specialists to regularly answer medical questions posted to the Beacon forums.
These myeloma specialists, known as the Beacon Medical Advisors, will participate in the forums on a regular basis and will be available to answer medical questions.
However, forum questions should not solely be directed toward the medical advisors. Questions posted to the Beacon forums should rather be ones that patients and caregivers can answer based on their experiences. They should also be ones that will benefit the general Myeloma Beacon community.
The medical advisors will answer questions that they feel would benefit from a specialist’s perspective and experience. Their responses are meant to augment, rather than replace, current discussion.
Please also keep in mind that any advice provided by the medical advisors is based on the limited amount of information that they may know about your case. Therefore, any advice provided by the medical advisors should be discussed with your treating physician.
If you have any questions about this program, please feel free to post a reply to this thread.

Re: Getting Answers To Medical Questions
Just a reminder to everyone ... Please read through the policy posted above if you haven't already.
Except during those weeks when we have guest myeloma experts invited to participate in the forum and take questions from forum visitors, questions posted in the forum should be addressed to all visitors to the forum, not just our Medical Advisors.
We want the content in the forum to be as relevant to everyone here as possible, and we don't want the Beacon's Medical Advisors to feel put on the spot and required to answer specific questions. They already are being very generous with their time and effort.
Thanks!
