Where do gene irregularities occur? Are they only on the myeloma cells? Are they in all our cells? Mine is 4/14 crossover.

Re: Gene crossovers
Hi Jubyanne,
Your question is one that I always wondered about as well.
As best I can determine, when myeloma researchers talk about finding chromosomal abnormalities like t(4;14) -- which is the one that you have -- they are talking about abnormalities occurring in the myeloma cells, not the other cells in a patient's body.

Re: Gene crossovers
TerryH is correct. These are abnormalities restricted to the myeloma cells -- not your normal cells.
Thanks!

Thank you both. As a biology major, I felt real stupid asking this question. I thought we had the same gene code in all our cells.
