Re: Followup From Wed. Jan 30. Help! Abnormal Lab/Light Chai
Thank you so much Ed for your response and insight. I'm sorry you had to go through all of that. I hope you're doing much better now that you got your diagnosis. I'm struggling everyday with alot of symptoms as stated. I just have to wait for the appointment FRI. with the second hematologist. I think I'm going to have to totally insist on more tests and a bone marrow biopsy even if the hematologist disagrees. This is out of my character but I must stand firm and insist.

Your Free Kappa and (therefore) your K/L ratio are pretty high and out of the normal range (you can either have too low or too high of a K/L ratio). See the article below for a good explanation of FLC's (see p 14 for normal values, which are also are the same normal ranges used on my lab reports...your reports many or may not include the normal ranges for that specific lab's test setup). Terry already mentioned that many folks can present with only FLCs and have multiple myeloma. But your IgA is also high (normal range for serum IgA is about 70-400 mg/dL...at least for the lab I use).
Your calcium is also borderline high, at least based on the normal range I have for my lab tests (8.5-10.1 mg/dL). I personally don't know if this is significant enough to be of concern as I haven't discussed hypercalcemia with my doc.
Again, remember that the ranges for the normal, acceptable values of various markers vary from lab to lab.
Best of luck.

Thanks again. I appreciate it. Just feeling so yucky, with all different symptoms so can't wait till this week is over. Hoping and praying for a diagnosis real soon so I can just get on with life. Ok... will let you know how things turned out. Thanks, Raven
Re: Followup From Wed. Jan 30. Help! Abnormal Lab/Light Chai
Hi Everyone, I told you I would give you an update as to what happened when I saw another hemotologist for a second opinion. I 'm very thankful that she took the time to go over my labs, symptoms and ordered additional tests. Blood tests were drawn at the office and although some will come in at a later date, I was handed what was found on the WBC test which was 0.9 H for mid # and 11.8% H for mid %. I really don't know what this means but all was ok with the RBC. I have to do the 24 hour urine test and she gave me the prescription for a skeletal survey. She said based on these findings she will determine whether or not I need a BMB. So when I left i went to do some food shopping and when I got home I was in severe pain, in my hips and groin ( I didn't hurt myself so don't know what happened). Anyway, the pain is excruciating and I can barely walk. Hoping this will be better by tomm. as I don't need any other pain
