My husband's M-protein is not measurable after 5 cycles of RVD [Revlimid, Velcade, and dexamethasone]. He will continue RVD, but only 1day/week instead of 2 days/week, 3 weeks on and 1 off. No stem cell transplant, so will complete 8 cycles.
Shouldn't his blood counts be going up now? We don't have yesterday's blood panels results yet.
When is the risk of infection reduced so that flying is a safer option? We need a little vacation.

While we were undergoing treatment, we asked the doctor if we could fly, and she gave the okay. The nurses also suggested to wash our hands frequently.
We had a 4 hour long flight, and everything seemed fine. I'd ask your doctor to make sure, as everyone is a little different.

Eight years since diagnosis -- seven since transplant -- I ALWAYS wear a mask at the airport and on the plane. It's worth it!

I flew following four cycles of induction treatment. No issues. At a three month post-transplant appointment with my doctor earlier this week, he said I could fly now.

Every time I flew after my stem cell transplant (SCT), I got some kind of bug. Nothing that was serious though. However, I avoid flying if I can. I will be trying flying again in a few months, and I hope I can break the pattern of getting sick every time I go through an airport and get on a plane.

My hus band still flys with active multiple myeloma. He brings a mask, and puts it off if he hears anyone nearby coughing. I also recommend bringing along some Chlorox wipes. Wipe off the arm rests and tray table.

I starting my phobia when i was diagnosed with CLL and I continue it. I don't think there is any reason stop socializing, just accept that people may feel you're a germaphobe and don't worry about it.
I avoid anyone I know to be sick and like the other post, if I'm confined I have a mask handy. The good thing about the mask is it causes people to try and avoid you. I carry the sanitizing down to cafe tables, condiments and S&P.

I did not fly while undergoing induction therapy because my oncologist was concerned about my low white blood counts. I flew about 5 months after my SCT and several times a year since then. Even though I wore a mask, I picked up a bug almost every time for the first three years. Now four years out from the SCT, I flew last Thanksgiving and again the past two weeks, without a mask, with no problem. However, I keep a mask with me, and if I heard anyone coughing, I would have put it on.
Similar with work. Until last summer, I had my own office, so I was somewhat walled off from bugs going around the office. I also asked my staff with young children to warn me when their kids are sick. That has worked well. Last summer, my agency moved into open, shared space. We all scrub the mouse and keyboard when we're in the office, and I watch for signs of illness going through the office. So far, so good.
