Fiance had tests done - am really worried

by ReThan on Thu Sep 19, 2013 9:53 am

Hi Guys,

I am new to this forum and came here fro help.

My Fiance, she is 27, has had arm pain for some time, been for Rheumatoid tests, they diagnosed her with RA and gave her stuff to take, Chemo type injection and pills.

She then went for more tests and they now said she does not have RA?

Her RA Factor is 10. Not sure what this means?

Negative for Anti-Nuclear Antibodies
ENA screening test: 0.3

Her CBC test showed a high Globulin, 38 ? they say 20 - 36 is the normal range.
Is this considered HIGH or is it just elevated?

ESR is 25 normal range is 0 - 20mm/h

Her Ferritin is 152 normal range is 13 - 150

Her red and white blood count is of normal range.

I would like to know what these results mean, does this mean multiple myeloma or can is be Rheumatoid arthritis or something else? I would really like some insight as Doctor does not say much and i am stressing myself sick!

__________Result...Reference
Total protein: 74..........60-83 g/l
Albumin: 36.......35-52 g/l
Alpha-1 Glo 3.7.......2.1-3.5 g/l
Alpha-2 Glo 9.7.......5.1-8.5 g/l
Beta-1 Glo 5.3.......3.4-5.2 g/l
Beta-2 Glo 4.0......2.3-4.7 g/l
Gamma Glo 12.6.....8.0-13.5 g/l

They say an acute phase response detected. Beta 1 globulin fraction is prominent. Serum immunofixation is required to investigate possible presence of a co-migrating monoclonal band in this region.

Does this mean there is an M-protein? Does this mean it has possibly migrated to the beta region?

She gave blood this morning for a immunofixation test, will this test just confirm what they suspect? Can they do this test and find no presence of an M-protein?

Thanks in advance, just need some info to prepare myself or keep my mind at ease.

Hi Doc!

The test came back negative!

The doctor wants to test again to make sure, how accurate is this test?

Thanks!
