Feeling bad after immunizations

by kullybunnny1 on Sat Sep 13, 2014 10:57 am

All, earlier this week I started my immunizations after my ASCT. I felt terrible after the 5 shots I received, but thought this was normal. But after the second day and still not feeling well, I started reading both the medical leaflet given to me and potential side effects, but I couldn't find my symptoms. Now 6 days later, I still feel ill.

Has anyone else had similar reactions?

Hi Kully,

I've been getting re-vaccinated too. Have had 3 rounds of 3 vaccinations. I have not had any big problems. Just some soreness for a day or two in one of my arms where I got the injection(s).

So it seems to me that, if you're still feeling bad 6 days after your injections, you should contact your oncologist.

Kully,

Sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well. Which vaccines did you get? You are just over the 100 day post-ASCT mark, right?

Multibilly, I received the following: Hep B, Polio, Pneumococcal, Haemophilus B, and DTP.

I'm starting to feel a little better, but not quite the energy level prior to shots. This is the 180 day protocol for my cancer center.

Glad you are starting to feel a bit better. Your timing falls within the CDC guidelines (which I've seen some docs refer to on this forum).

http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/pubs/hemato-cell-transplts.htm

But you can find different vaccination timing suggestions from other sites like this one:

Prior to being diagnosed with multiple myeloma, I would feel under the weather for a couple of days about half the time when I just got a flu shot.
