I am newly diagnosed with smoldering multiple myeloma. Bone marrow biopsy shows 15 percent affected plasma. t(11,14). CT scan negative. Red blood cell count a little low at 3.97. Kappa-lambda ratio 1,86. Abnormal protein (M-spike, paraprotein level) 0.7 g/dL (7 g/l).
I've been experiencing fatigue and muscle stiffness, especially after any exercise, and stiffness in my fingers. Also, increased sensitivity to being out in the sun (rapid onset of sweating).
Are these likely to be a result of the smoldering myeloma?
I have exercised consistently all my adult life and currently my endurance level is about 75 - 80% of normal. My peak strength is good, but I don't have the ability to do as many reps, or ride as many miles, as I did just a few months ago. Also, after any exercise my muscles are stiff (not sore) for days.
If what I'm experiencing is due to the smoldering myeloma, is there anything I can do to minimize the effects of the disease on my life and activity?
I have been supplementing with 8 g curcumin per day, vitamin E, vitamin D3 (4000 IU) , B-complex, fish oil, and magnesium after exercise.
