Re: Empliciti, Revlimid & dexamethasone: what to expect?

by Kevin J on Fri Apr 27, 2018 2:50 pm

I just started a clinical trial with Ninlaro (Ixazomib) and dexamethasone. First cycle just completed and it has stopped the upward trend in my IgA and M-Protein and they going back down again. Hopefully it will continue that way for a quite some time.

That's nice that it has stopped the upward trend! I hope you will get a complete response!

All the best for you Kevin.

Re: Empliciti, Revlimid & dexamethasone: what to expect?

I have been on the once-a-month elotuzumab (Empliciti), dexamethasone, Benadryl (diphenhydramine), Pepcid (famotidine), and Tylenol (acetaminophen, paracetamol) regimen with 10 mg Revlimid taken daily for about a year since my stem cell transplant. It has shown so far to keep me in remission. The side effects are some fatigue for a couple of days after infusions, but I have more side effects from the Revlimid (leg cramps, leg aches, and diarrhea) than I do from the elotuzumab. Also I take Zometa every 90 days and that makes me feel like I have the flu for a couple of days! Ugh!

I only live about 50 miles away from the cancer center where I get the elotuzumab infusions, so it's not a huge inconvenience once a month.

I could be wrong, but I thought this elotuzumab treatment was a trial and was real close to being approved by the FDA?

Thanks,
David
