Emerging Multiple Myeloma /Hepatitis C ~ very frightened

by BoneyMaroney on Tue Oct 01, 2013 4:04 pm

I have been watched for 5 or so years with MGUS then it suddenly rapidly advanced to emerging multiple myeloma. I have Hepatitis C and have tried interferon/ribavirin treatment 2X and had to be taken off both times.

My oncologist referred me to MDAnderson. They have confirmed the diagnosis and wanted to begin treatment but had Dr. Torres in ID look at my liver. He just called and I am in shock to hear I am stage 4 cirrhosis as I do not drink or drug and got my Hep C from a blood transfusion early in life.

~. As I understand I cannot do multiple myeloma treatment with Stage 4 cirrhosis? am I correct?
~ Will my medicare and supplement insurance as well as part D cover me for Hep C treatment and multiple myeloma treatment?
` The new Hep C treatment Dr. Torres had me ready to start in Jan/Feb 2014 says it is only for treatment naive patients and I've tried the old treatment twice. Will I be allowed to take it ?
` Will my medicare /insurances cover the cost if I have had Hep C treatment before?
most importantly
What would an average prognosis be for a women 60 yo in good health otherwise, not a drinker or drugger, Emerging Multiple Myeloma and stage 4 cirrhosis
