The Philadelphia Multiple Myeloma Networking Group (PMMNG) lost a dear member on January 22 when Jan Gable died from multiple myeloma.
If I recall correctly, Jan's myeloma was diagnosed in 2014. She had an autologous stem cell transplant in the fall of 2014.
She spent her career as a general practitioner physician serving the people in the economically-challenged southwestern corner of my home state, Virginia. She then retired to the Philadelphia area.
I can't say that I knew Jan really well, but I always enjoyed when she attended PMMNG meetings. She had insightful comments and was upbeat and curious. I always enjoyed talking with her. She will be missed by those of us in the PMMNG, as well as by many others, I am sure.

Re: Dr. Janice Gable
Although we had only a very short time to get to know Jan, she was such a friendly, lovely person. I knew that she was having a lot of problems with her myeloma, but that doesn't ever make it easier to learn of one's passing.
All my love to her family and friends and the many, many former patients of hers who lost such a wonderful person.
