I've never been overweight and have NOT had gastric bypass surgery, and yet I've now developed a new malady ~ dumping syndrome, which is when your body dumps insulin into your system to deal with food that's either entering the small intestine too quickly or contains sugar / carbs that the body can't deal with.
Symptoms start with dizziness, nausea, belching, bloating, abdominal cramps, sweating, hot flashes, tremors, feeling extremely tired, increased blood pressure, and sometimes an urgent need to lay down. Extreme reactions may also lead to diarrhea and vomiting.
I've been through two stem cell transplants (July 2012 and January 2013) and currently am on Velcade subQ maintenance. I'm not sure if Aloxi (palonosetron) used to combat nausea may be causing the problem. Some of the listed side effects mimic dumping syndrome, but not all.
Has anyone else been diagnosed with dumping syndrome or experienced this litany of symptoms? If so, what info can you provide on diet or medication?
